Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders Through Wellness

United Through Fitness & Education’s Youth Initiative is a year-round program designed to empower young people through structured fitness activities, leadership development, and healthy lifestyle education. By partnering with schools, athletic teams, after-school programs, and community organizations across Shreveport and Northwest Louisiana, UTFE creates engaging opportunities for youth to build confidence, strengthen teamwork skills, and develop positive habits that support both physical wellbeing and academic success. Through movement, mentorship, and wellness education, the initiative helps young participants grow into active, motivated, and community-minded leaders prepared for lifelong success.

United Through Fitness & Education will partner with AAU teams, public schools, and private school athletic programs throughout the calendar year to deliver Sports Team Leadership Development Sessions. Each month, one selected team—totaling 12 teams annually—will participate in a structured four-hour evening experience designed to strengthen leadership skills, promote wellness, and build positive team culture. These sessions focus on team-building and character development, fellowship and values-based peer engagement, athletic performance and conditioning strategies, educational fitness and injury-prevention tips, as well as nutrition guidance that supports healthy eating habits. Participants will also engage in goal-setting and personal development activities that encourage long-term success both on and off the field. Meals will be provided to reinforce the importance of proper nutrition for athletic performance and overall health.

After-School Youth Wellness Classes

United Through Fitness & Education will host twice-monthly youth wellness sessions on the first and third Thursday of each month at community recreation centers, neighborhood parks, and church facilities. Each 45-minute class is designed to actively engage young participants through structured fitness activities that promote movement, coordination, and overall physical wellbeing. Sessions also include age-appropriate nutrition education and healthy lifestyle discussions, along with unity-focused character development and mentorship opportunities that reinforce positive values. Through teamwork-building exercises and confidence-boosting activities, youth are encouraged to develop leadership skills and establish healthy habits that support long-term physical health, academic achievement, and personal growth.
